Dental Scaling and Gum Treatment
Scaling is routinely performed to help patients with gum disease and excessive plaque buildup. Saliva, bacteria, and proteins in mouth form a thin layer that covers teeth at almost all time. When sugars from the food stick to this film, this creates a buildup on the teeth known as plaque. Bacteria that lives in this plaque can cause gum disease and tooth decay. Regular dental cleanings will help remove the plaque and prevent serious gum diseases.
